![]() ![]() ![]() What impresses me most about the BT45 is that it does everything so well. Decreasing pressure will increase contact patch in the center big time and a bit on the sides if done in moderation. The tires that put the largest contact patch in the center will compromise contact patch when leaned over and vice a versa so the best drag tire will not necessarily be the best in the turns. Honestly, they are all good tires and every one of them can out corner most riders. Back in the day, they called it cling rubber and they were right. Avon has always had a knack for grippy compounds. The Avon's and 591 are rehashes of older compounds and constructions. The sport demon and BT45 are modern design applied to a narrow rim, bias ply tire. I guess, grippiest depends on what you are using it for. The 591 is nowhere near the BT45 in the turns, in my opinion. It may have more forward bite for drag racing. The 591 has a flatter profile than the BT45 and so it has a larger contact patch when straight up and down. I rarely ride in the wet, so dry-weather traction is all I'm really looking for. So, I've narrowed my selection down to four options (Why, oh why does Harley have to put a 16" on the rear!?!?) and I would like to know which is the grippiest tire. I'm basically flat-tracking around town on this setup and it can be quite annoying. Right now I'm running a 1200 with 1200 heads, 10.5:1 SE Forged pistons. It's about the same in the traction department as the stock Dunlops.īut I need more.
